We went to see “Julie & Julia” last weekend. We both knew we’d like it having read numerous fattening (I mean flattering!) reviews, but were still unprepared for the pure joi de vivre Meryl Streep brings to this performance.
And the criticisms of the Amy Adams portrayal totally miss the point. There is healthy and exuberant refuge to be found in working with food, creating sumptuous meals that sate every sense.

Granite State Candy Shoppe in Concord, NH has a secret. You can’t find evidence of of it on its website. And, that’s just crazy, because this is the source of the best ice cream deal in all of the State of New Hampshire.
Granite State really is a business about very good chocolate candy. But they take ice cream seriously as well. My kinda people.
